Here is an approximate day-to-day assessment of how your order is handled, from start to finish.
Order is received and processed by United's Customer Service Department with deposit in certified funds. CD and DAT source material will be audio tested to verify content. All copyright information must be fully completed and verifiable by United. This will allow us to complete your order quickly. If you need help, go to one of the following websites:
Master Tape is taken to our audio engineer and mastering facility. This is where a master lacquer is cut directly from the source copy.
Label is taken to our printer. At this point one of two things happens:
If you sent in camera-ready artwork, the labels are prepared and printed. If you sent in artwork to be typeset, United's printer pre-presses your artwork and typesets label information to creat a label proof. Label proofs are then faxed to you for approval.- Master lacquers go to United's plating facility for two-step processing. The plating process consists of your master lacquers being plated so that records stampers can be created.
- Labels are printed, providing that label proofs have been approved by you. (Two and four-color labels may take longer.)
- Test pressings are pressed.
- Tests are shipped UPS 2nd Day Air.
After test pressings and label proofs are approved, typical turn-around time is 5-10 business days for records to be pressed and shipped. Records are shipped only if balance is paid in full, in certified funds. All records are shipped UPS Ground (approximately 1 to 7 business days.) unless otherwise specified.
